Our Mission

Acreetion exists to provide self-hosted, open-source alternatives to Big Tech services. We believe you should own your data, control your timeline, and communicate privately — without being the product.

Why We Charge

The software is free. The world isn't.

Every service we run is powered by free and open-source software. No one charges us for Mastodon, Nextcloud, XMPP, or Immich. But we do pay for:

• VPS hosting — Our Contabo EU server costs real money every month
• Bandwidth — Every upload, download, and API call uses bandwidth
• Storage — Your files, photos, and messages need disk space
• Maintenance — Keeping services updated, secure, and running takes time

Our pricing is designed to cover these costs — not to maximize profit. We charge only what's needed to keep the lights on and the services running for everyone.

GitLab is always free because we believe developer tools should be accessible to all. It has no pricing tier.

Natalie and Darren have unlimited operator access across the services because these are our VPSes and we maintain the infrastructure.

How Premium Works

Our social supporter tiers work like X (Twitter) Premium, but with a critical difference:

• X Premium pays for Elon's rockets and shareholder dividends
• Acreetion Supporter pays for server costs so social media and GitLab stay free

Mastodon and Bluesky are free with fair-use restrictions like X. Supporter subscriptions are optional. Nextcloud and Immich charge for extra storage because disk and bandwidth cost real money.

Our Services

Telemetry & Transparency

We collect anonymized usage telemetry and may commercialize aggregated data. This helps offset hosting costs. We will never sell your personal files, photos, messages, posts, or code. Only anonymized usage metrics are ever commercialized.
